Distribution: Occurring east of the Cascades crest in southern Washington; southern Washington to Oregon, east to Idaho.

Habitat: Open, often rocky places, at low elevations.

Annual, the stem 1-3.5 dm. tall, often branched, glabrous below but with stalked glands above.

Leaves opposite, glabrous, the upper leaves short-petiolate or sessile, deeply divided into three lance-elliptic segments 1.5-4 cm. long; lower leaves with longer petioles, trifoliate with broad leaflets, or simple.

Flowers numerous, 1-several in the axils of reduced leaves or bracts, on elongate, slender, stipitate-glandular pedicels; calyx with 5 lobes longer than the tube; corolla light blue and white, sub-rotate, showy, 6-12 mm. wide, with a short tube with 5 lobes, slightly bilabiate; stamens 4, equal, exerted, the filaments pubescent; stigmas united.

Capsule opening along 4 sutures.
