Large woody bracket or shelf fungus, may also be resupinate. Cap is brown to black, crusted, grooved, rough, may have mosses growing on it. Pore layer is yellowish-, golden- or rusty-brown, pores very small, variably shaped from elongate to labyrinthine to tooth-like.
