Distribution: Occurring east of the Cascades crest in Washington; Washington to California, east to Nevada.

Habitat: Moist to moderately dry soil at low to middle elevations in the mountains.

Flowers: May-July

Origin: Native

Description:
General:

Low annual, the stem with short, spreading hairs, 0.5-3 dm. tall.

Leaves:

Leaves cauline, entire, short-petiolate, the blade oblanceolate to ovate, 0.5-4 cm. long and 2-25 mm. wide.

Flowers:

Inflorescence of 1 or more compact, bracteate clusters, on peduncles from the leaf axils or terminal; calyx divided nearly to the base, the 5 lobes narrow, bristly; corolla bell-shaped, lavender to blue-violet, 4-7 mm. long and wide; filaments barely exerted; style 2-cleft at least to the middle.

Fruits:

Fruit a capsule, the seeds 1-4, finely pitted.
