Distribution: Occurring west of the Cascades crest in southwestern Washington and in the Columbia River Gorge; southern Washington to California.

Habitat: Moist, rocky woodlands, banks, bluffs, and beaches, from the lowlands to middle elevations in the mountains.

Flowers: June-July

Origin: Native

Description:
General:

Glabrous perennial from a branching rhizome, 1-6 dm. tall.

Leaves:

Basal leaves well-developed and persistent, thick and firm, petiolate, the blade cordate, up to 7 cm. broad and long, shallowly palmately lobed, the lobes again toothed; cauline leaves several, pinnatifid, reduced upward.

Flowers:

Heads several in a compact, cymose cluster; involucre 5-7 mm. high, pubescent, often with a few, slender bracteoles; rays yellow.
