Leaf blades lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, 4-10 cm. long, pointed, serrate, occasionally with a lobe on one or both margins, deep green above, paler beneath.
Inflorescence 5-12 flowered, flat-topped; calyx glabrous to woolly, the 5 lobes lanceolate, recurved, 5 mm. long, deciduous; petals 5, white, oblong-oval, 9-14 mm. long; stamens 20, shorter than the petals; styles usually 3.
Fruit 3-chambered, fleshy, obovoid, 10-16 mm. long, yellow to purplish-red.
