Distribution: Occurring west of the Cascades crest in Washington; British Columbia to California.

Habitat: Forest edge, roadsides, wastelots, and other disturbed areas.

Flowers: June-August

Origin: Introduced from Mediterranean

Description:
General:

Glabrous, glaucous perennial, the stem usually unbranched, 3-6 dm. tall.

Leaves:

Leaves numerous, entire, linear, opposite below and alternate above.

Flowers:

Inflorescence an elongate raceme; calyx 5-lobed to the base; corolla bright violet, 7-10 mm. long not including the long, down-curved spur, bi-labiate; stamens 4.

Fruits:

Capsule.
