Distribution: Occasionally escaping from cultivation, but usually short-lived.

Habitat: Disturbed sites, meadows, clearings.

Description:
General:

Herbaceous perennials, the stems 20-60 cm. tall, simple or branched above.

Leaves:

Basal leaves with petioles 50-80 mm. long, expanding into obovate to spatulate blades 50-80 mm. long and 15-25 mm. broad, the margins usually toothed; cauline leaves usually sessile, the blades lanceolate to linear, 50-120 mm. long and 8-22 mm. broad, the margins of mid-stem leaves entire on the lower part and serrate above.

Flowers:

Heads single and terminal on the stems; involucres 18-22 mm. in diameter; involucral bracts 2-3 mm. wide; rays white, 21-34, 20-30 mm. long; disk flowers yellow.

Fruits:

Achene 2-3 mm. long.
