Distribution: Occurring west of the Cascades crest in Washington; British Columbia to California, scattered eastward across North America to the Atlantic Coast where more broadly distributed.

Habitat: Roadsides, retaining walls, wastelots, and other disturbed open areas at low elevation.

Flowers: April-October

Origin: Introduced from Eurasia

Growth Duration: Annual

Conservation Status: Not of concern

Pollination: Self-pollination, bees

Description:
General:

Glabrous perennial, prostrate and trailing, often purplish.

Leaves:

Leaves alternate, ivy-like, palmately lobed, long-petiolate.

Flowers:

Flowers solitary on long peduncles arising from the leaf axils; corolla lilac with a yellow center spot, bilabiate, 8-10 mm. long, with a short, curved spur, the upper 2 lobes deeply divided, the lower 3 rounded.
