Distribution: Occurring east of the Cascades crest in Washington; Washington to California, eastward in scattered localities to the Atlantic Coast.
Habitat: Disturbed soil and wasteland.

Glabrous, somewhat succulent annual, the stems freely-branched, decumbent to ascending, 2-5 dm. long.
Leaves opposite, leaflets 2, obliquely oblong-obovate, 2-4 cm. long; stipules oblong, 1-3 cm. long, interpetiolar.
Flowers 1.5 cm. broad, solitary on axillary peduncles 1 cm. long; sepals 5; petals 5, yellow, slightly longer than the sepals; stamens 10, the filaments winged-margined by a scale attached to the inner surface, the scales serrulate; style and stigma 1.
Capsule 5-celled, oblong, 2-3 cm. long, pendant.
