Distribution: Occurring east of the Cascades crest in Washington; British Columbia to California, east to Idaho and Nevada.
Habitat: Forest openings, wet areas at low to middle elevations.

Glabrous annuals, the slender stems usually single, 3-30 cm. tall.
Basal leaves few to several, not forming a rosette, ovate to obovate, 5-15 mm. long, rounded; cauline leaves opposite, linear-oblanceolate and acute.
Flowers in a few-flowered cyme; pedicles shorter than the calyx; calyx lobes 5, linear, 6-8 mm. long; corolla white to deep pink, half again as long as the calyx, the tube narrow, the 5 lobes sharply flaring, narrow, 3-4 mm. long; stamens 5, exerted; style simple, stigma flattened, the lobes ovate-deltoid.
Capsules slender, 2-valved, about twice the length of the calyx.
