Distribution: Occurring west of the Cascades crest in Washington; southwestern British Columbia to California, also in northern Idaho and western Montana.

Habitat: Roadsides, fields, forest edge, wastelots, and other disturbed areas.

Slender-stemmed, glabrous annual, the stem 3-7 dm. tall.

Leaves pinnate; leaflets 8-10, linear to narrowly oblong, 10-25 mm. long, with a needle-like tip; stipules 2-4 mm. long, linear, usually with a basal tooth; tendrils well-developed.

Inflorescence of 2- to 3-flowered racemes on filiform, axillary peduncles about equal to the leaves; flowers pea-like, bluish, the banner only slightly reflexed; calyx lobes 5, linear-lanceolate, about as long as the tube; style densely bearded at the tip.

Pod 1-1.5 cm. long, 4-5 seeded, glabrous.
