Distribution: Occurring east of the Cascades crest in Washington; Washington to California, east to northern Great Plains.

Habitat: Sagebrush plains to streambanks in the lower mountains.

Flowers: June-August

Description:
General:

Glabrous and somewhat glaucous biennial, the stem 6-20 dm. tall, single, erect, simple to freely branched.

Leaves:

Basal leaves several, 10-25 cm. long, long-petiolate, the blades ovate-lanceolate to oblanceolate, entire to dentate; cauline leaves numerous, linear-lanceolate, usually short-petiolate, mostly entire.

Flowers:

Inflorescence a compound, congested raceme; pedicles slender, 4-10 mm. long, ascending to spreading; sepals 4, 3.5-4 mm. long, greenish-white to purplish; petals 4, narrowly clawed, 6-9 mm. long, white to rose; stamens 6, slightly exceeding the petals; style 0.5-1 mm. long; stigma small, entire.

Fruits:

Siliques narrowly linear, ascending, 2-3.5 cm. long, with a distinct stipe 0.7-2 mm. long.
