Suillus ochraceoroseus cap is dry, fibrillose to scaly, often whitish at first and then rosy red. The pores are yellowish to brownish and often rather large, angular, and elongated. The stipe is mostly yellowish and somewhat reddish to brownish towards the base. The veil is whitish to grayish or yellowish, somewhat fibrillose-membranous, and often leaves material along the cap edge and a ring-zone or ring on the stipe. Often the interior of the stipe is hollow and the flesh stains blue-green at times when cut or bruised. S. ochraceoroseus has sometimes been placed in the genus Fuscoboletinus because of its reddish brown to purplish brown spores.
