Habitat: Montane forests with fir and spruce, forming under deep snow. Can be found up to timberline.
Substrate: Dead conifers.

Shelf or bracket-like, elongated fruitbody; off white, grayish, pinkish or sometimes cinnamon-colored. Soft, marshmallow-like texture. Cap margin rolls over the pore layer. Pores large and angular, may become tooth-like in age.
