Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington; Alaska to California.
Habitat: Rock ledges, talus slopes and gravelly ridges from low elevations to the subalpine.

Glabrous, glaucous perennials from strong rhizomes, with several sterile shoots and basal rosettes, the flowering stems 5-20 cm. tall.
Leaves alternate, obovate to spatulate-oblanceolate, 8-20 mm. long and 3-7 mm. wide, flattened but very succulent, usually overlapping on the stems.
Flowers crowded and sub-sessile in several-rayed cymes; calyx 5-lobed nearly to the base, the lobes lanceolate, 3-4 mm. long; petals 5, yellow, narrowly lanceolate and long-acuminate, 10-13 mm. long, united at the base for 1.5-3 mm.; stamens 10, shorter than the petals, 5 attached to the base of the petals.
Follicles 5, erect, nearly distinct, each with a small gland at the base, and tipped by the erect, tapered style.
