Distribution: Occurring west of the Cascades crest in Washington; British Columbia to California, also occurring in Kansas.

Habitat: Waste ground.

Flowers: May-June

Origin: Introduced from Europe

Description:
General:

Delicate annual with numerous, filiform, ascending stems 3-5 cm. long; finely glandular-pubescent above, especially in the inflorescence and calyx.

Leaves:

Leaves opposite, linear, 2-4 mm. long, with a few long hairs on their bases.

Flowers:

Pedicels filiform, 2-6 mm. long; sepals 4, rounded, 1.5-1.7 mm. long, erect in fruit; petals lacking; styles 4, alternate with the sepals; stamens 4.

Fruits:

Capsule about 1.5 times as long as the calyx.
