Ramaria testaceoflava is characterized by its small to medium size, pale chocolate brown branches, yellow branch tips, white fuzzy stipe base, rapid brown-bruising reaction, and flesh that turns green in iron sulfate. The brown coloration is unusual among the members of Laeticolora, as is the iron sulfate reaction in combination with clamped basidia. No other species combines all three of these characters.
