Terrestrial polypore with central to lateral stem, both purplish-gray fading to cinnamon-buff or olivaceous-tawny, may have orange patches; margin may be green. Flesh is soft and variably colored - pinkish, ochre-salmon, bluish, violaceous. Cut flesh may turn lilac, yellow, orange, or green. Pores large, circular to angular, decurrent, purplish-gray aging to brownish.
