Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington; Alaska to California, east to the Rocky Mountains.

Habitat: High elevations in the mountains, often in open areas above timberline.

Flowers: May-August

Origin: Native

Description:
General:

Small, compact, taprooted perennial, the clustered stems up to 2 dm. tall, strongly glandular in the inflorescence.

Leaves:

Leaves alternate and pinnate, the basal leaves well developed, the cauline reduced; leaflets 11-25, under 1 cm. long and 5 mm. wide.

Flowers:

Inflorescence congested, few to several flowered; calyx herbaceous, 4-5 mm long, the 5 lobes usually shorter than the tube; corolla blue with a yellow eye, bell-shaped, 7-11 mm. long and wide, the 5 lobes equaling the tube; style 3-parted; ovary superior.

Fruits:

Capsule 3-celled.
