Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington; British Columbia to Washington, east to Idaho.

Habitat: Open slopes, meadows and margins of pools, from the lowlands to moderate elevations in the mountains.

Simple to freely-branched annual up to 2.5 dm. tall, with soft hairs in the inflorescence.

Leaves up to 3 cm. long, pinnatifid or bi-pinnatifid with narrow segments and rachis, the terminal segment elongate; bracts similar to leaves.

Inflorescence of dense, leafy-bracteate, terminal heads; calyx white-hairy within at the mouth, the 5 lobes unequal; corolla white to pale bluish or lavender, 4-11 mm. long, the 5 lobes under 2 mm. long and longer than wide; stigmas 2; ovary superior.

Capsule 2-celled, with 3-5 seeds per cell.
