Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington; British Columbia to California, east to the Atlantic Coast.

Habitat: In humus of coniferous forests at low to mid-elevations.

Flowers: May-July

Origin: Native

Growth Duration: Perennial

Conservation Status: Not of concern

Description:
General:

Leafless myco-heterotrophic plants with unbranched yellow or pink tinged stems.

Leaves:

Reduced to non-green scales borne alternately along stem.

Flowers:

Yellow or pinkish, narrow, 1-2 cm long, with 4 distinct petals; in short often drooping racemes.

Fruits:

Capsules 5-8 mm long with axile placentation.

Identification Notes:

Flowers 2-several with distinct petals, anthers about 1 mm long, placentation axile rather than parietal, Compare to Pleuricospora and Pityopus.
