Distribution: Alaska south to the Cascades of northwest Washington, east to Labrador and south to north-central Montana.

Habitat: Damp woods, along streams and in bogs.

Flowers: June - August

Description:
General:

Rhizomatous and stoloniferous perennial, the erect scapes 5-20 cm. tall, leafless or with a reduced leaf near the base, finely glandular-puberulent.

Leaves:

Leaves basal, long-petiolate, the blades cordate to reniform, 1-3 cm. long, doubly toothed, the teeth rounded, with a few fine, stiff hairs on the upper surface.

Flowers:

Inflorescence a 3- to 12-flowered raceme, blossoming upward; pedicels 2-6 mm. long; calyx saucer-shaped, lobed over half its length, the 5 segments ovate, spreading, 1.5 mm. long; petals 5, greenish-yellow, 4 mm. long, filiformly dissected into 8 lateral divisions; stamens 10.

Fruits:

Ovary 1/3-1/2 inferior, carpels 2.
