Inocybe chelanensis is a basic brown inocybe not immediately different from many others. It has large, distinctive bullet-shaped spores. The cap is yellowish brown and fibrillose, often with cracks on the margin. Sometimes the center is somewhat whitish. The stipe is powdery only at the apex, or not at all, and the odor is faint and has been variously described as spermatic, fungoid, and Pelargonium-like. The spores are 13--19 x 5--8 µm, with up to five nodules at the widened end of the bullet. I. chelanensis occurs widely in the mountains of western North America.
