Habitat: I. assimilata is widespread in North America, Europe, and temperate Asia.
Conservation Status: Not of concern
Inocybe assimilata has a fibrillose umber cap that often bears faint grayish veil remnants. The odor is mild. The gills are creamy beige at first and later become grayish to reddish brown. The stipe is reddish brown, powdery at most at the apex, fibrillose over most of its length, and has a rounded bulb at its base. The spores are 6.5--9.5 x 4.5--6.5 µm, and weakly nodulose; cheilocystidia and pleurocystidia are slender to slightly ovate with thick-walls, slightly narrowed necks, and crystals on the apices.
