Stout, low perennial, nearly acaulescent, the peduncle up to 1 dm. tall.

Leaves all basal, spreading, often prostrate, thick and firm, glabrous above and white-woolly beneath, the petioles strongly sheathing; leaf blades ternate, the leaflets with large, rounded teeth or broadly and deeply tri-lobed, 2-7 cm. long.

Inflorescence of compound umbels on solitary or few stout, terminal peduncles; rays of the umbel 5-13, up to 4.5 cm. long, woolly; ultimate umbels capitate, the pedicels obsolete; involucre wanting; involucels of several lanceolate bractlets; calyx teeth minute, flowers white.

Fruit sub-globose, 6-13 mm. long, the ribs all broadly corky-winged.
