Distribution: Occurring in scattered locations west of the Cascades crest in Washington; southwestern British Columbia to California, also in western Idaho.

Habitat: Waste areas, roadsides, and other disturbed open areas.

Flowers: June-July

Origin: Introduced from Europe

Growth Duration: Perennial

Conservation Status: Not of concern

Description:
General:

Shrub up to 3.5 m. tall, usually villous-pubescent, the branches leafy.

Leaves:

Leaves alternate, trifoliate; leaflets obovate, 2-3 cm. long.

Flowers:

Flowers pea-like, 3-10 in compact racemes on short lateral shoots, light yellow, about 1 cm. long; calyx bell-shaped, hairy, the upper lip much more deeply lobed than the lower one.

Fruits:

Pods hairy, about 2 cm. long.
