Scrambling, glabrous, glaucous annual, the stems simple to freely-branched, 2-4 dm. long.
Leaves alternate, all cauline, 2 or 3 times pinnate, the ultimate segments oblong or lobed.
Inflorescence of axillary, bracteate, pedunculate racemes, the bracts shorter than the pedicles; sepals 2; petals 4, reddish-purple with darker tips, 7-12 mm. long, closely appressed, the tips not spreading, the outer 2 dissimilar, the upper one conspicuously spurred-saccate at the base, the spur up to 4 mm. long.
Capsule obovoid-globose, truncate at the tip, 2.5 mm. broad.
