Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington; Alaska to California, east to Northwest Territories, south in Rocky mountains to Colorado.

Habitat: Alpine slopes, talus, and rocky outcroppings.

Description:
General:

Clump forming perennials, sometimes forming mats, branched at base, usually bearing scapes; stems generally 0.3-1.1 dm, unbranched, fully glabrous or pubescent, or pubescent PROXIMALLY; trichomes short-stalked, 08-12 rays, 0.08-0.3 mm.

Leaves:

Basal leaves form rosettes; petioles negligible, ciliate proximally with simple, 2-rayed trichomes; blades oblanceolate or obovate, 0.3-1.5 cm long and 1-3 mm broad, margins entire; upper surface pubescent with stellate, 8-12 rayed trichomes on short stalks; lower surface glabrous basally or with trichomes simple and long-stalked; cauline leaves absent or 1, sometimes 4, sessile, ovate or oblong, margins entire, pubescent as basal above and beneath.

Flowers:

Inflorescence racemose, 3-9 flowered, ebracteate or rarely lower 1-4 flowers with bracts, elongated in fruit; rachis usually somewhat flexuous in fruit, fully glabrous or pubescent or pubescent proximally; pedicels ascending, generally straight, 2-9 mm, glabrous or pubescent as stem; sepals 4, ovate, 1.5-2 mm long, pubescent with simple and short-stalked trichomes with 2-5 rays; petals 4, white, oblanceolate, 2-3.5 mm long and 1-1.5 mm broad; anthers 0.2-0.3 mm, ovate.

Fruit:

Siliques 6-15 mm long and 1-2 mm broad, generally linear or narrower toward base, plane or somewhat twisted, flattened; valves glabrous or minutely pubescent with simple, 2-rayed trichomes; ovaries generally contain 16-24 ovules; seeds ovoid, 0.7-1 mm long and 0.5-0.6 mm broad.
