Distribution: Occurring mostly east of the Cascades crest in Washington; British Columbia to Nevada, east to Idaho, Utah and Wyoming.

Habitat: Dry, open places from the plains to moderate elevations in the mountains.

Freely-branched, slender annual up to 1.5 dm. tall, with stalked glands at least above.

Leaves alternate, linear, 1-5 cm. long and 1-5 mm. wide.

Flowers numerous, sub-sessile, solitary in the forks of the braches or axils of the leaves; calyx teeth 5, triangular, 1 mm. long; corolla lavender to pink or white, 5-lobed, about twice as long as the calyx; stamens 5, filaments equally inserted, very short; style 3-parted; ovary superior.

Capsule with 3, 1-seeded carpels.
