Distribution: A widespread species, occurring across North America and in Europe and parts of Asia.

Conservation Status: Not of concern

The small bright yellow to golden orange clubs of Clavulinopsis laeticolor can often be found growing in scattered groups on soil among mosses. There are several similar small golden clubs and they must be examined microscopically to identify them confidently. Some mycologists prefer the name Ramariopsis laeticolor for this species; C. pulchra is another synonym. C. laeticolor has rather variable broadly ellipsoid to almost globose (4--7 x 3.5--5 µm) spores with a prominent apiculus that sometimes gives them an almost triangular shape. C. helvola is very similar, but has coarsely warty spores, which is unusual among these club and coral fungi. C. fusiformis is larger, typically bright yellow, and usually grows in dense bundles.
