Distribution: Occurring east of the Cascades crest in Washington; eastern Washington east to the Rocky Mountains; also from the Great Lakes east to the Atlantic Coast from Canada to North Carolina; circumboreal.

Habitat: Montane to subalpine in moist meadows.
