Distribution: Occurring chiefly west of the Cascades crest in Washington; Alaska to California, east across much of North America except for the southeastern region; cosmopolitan.

Habitat: Salt marshes, wet meadows, and margins of ponds, especially in alkaline or saline areas.

Flowers: May-August
