Tufted perennial from a simple crown, the simple stems usually several, 0.5-2 dm. tall, usually densely hairy with hairs branched in a tree-like fashion.

Basal leaves numerous, 1.5-2 cm. long and 3-5 mm. broad, oblanceolate, narrowed to short petioles, grayish beneath; cauline leaves alternate, several, often overlapping, acute, sessile and auriculate, mostly glabrous.

Inflorescence of 3- to 10-flowered racemes; pedicels 2-6 mm. long; sepals 4, 2.5-3.5 mm. long, not gibbous at the base; petals 4, rose-purple, 4.5-7 mm. long; stamens 6; style none.

Siliques glabrous, often all on one side of the stem, 3.5-4.5 cm. long and 1.5-2 mm. broad, ascending to spreading, straight, 1-nerved half their length; seeds in 1 series, 1.6 mm. long, with a wing 0.3 mm. broad.
