The fruitbodies of Albatrellus dispansus are complex, arising from a short thick base and branching out into numerous overlapping, sometimes fused, often irregularly shaped, caps. The caps are yellowish, dry, and tomentose to scaly; the tubes and pores are white when fresh, and the pores are angular; the stipe is whitish.The fruitbodies turn dark red when dried and stored.
