Leaves alternate, bipinnately dissected into narrow, linear segments, the lower leaves sessile.
Flowers showy, regular, single on naked peduncles; sepals 5, greenish, rounded; petals 5-10, red, narrowly oblong-oblanceolate, about twice the length of the sepals, spreading; stamens blue, numerous; pistils numerous.
